PARADOX OF THE ALTAR GIRLS
Never been my fantasy for reasons unknown to me
But they always been my greatest temptation
‘Altar girls’
Closer to the altar they always been
Yet I never cease to wonder
Why they always been the ones
Hasn’t it been but irony to decipher
They always strayed from their divine roots
Have always been one paradoxical Jezebel
Or worse still another Delilah
Drooling and craving maniacally
For the taboos their forebears detest
Yet haven’t I always been weary of them
Least they know more
Even than I have deemed to
Of the reality of our dreads
The reality of our vanity
Our yearnings for freedom
Freedom from the thongs of alien forces
Or is it a logical puzzle bequeathed
That the closer to the altar one is
The further from the hankered salvation
Your soul thither and thither becomes
The more to the opposite forces yonder and yonder
The spirit is blown
