#Quota System In The Best Interest Of All Malawians But Perhaps Has Corrupted Implementation  …..[#For Academic Debate Purposes]
The Quota system as an #intervention for selecting students into schools in Malawi perhaps misconstrued as unorthodox , is by intention a deliberate #policy (perhaps pro - poor) bent on spearheading #equity to education for all pupils on grounds of their relative intelligence quotient (IQ) but perhaps has or is imbued with #implementation bottlenecks. The objective or motive behind the system being to level the academic ground to those high IQ kids who might be underprivileged or disadvantaged not to have access to better schools due to #structural challenges such as parental socioeconomic status, rural location, gender disparities, economic inequalities or marginalization or poverty. On that premise the system might logically be in the best interest of all pupils in the nation in general and in particular those from the #North where better schools are in short supply due to regional #marginalization and national #development disparities or even #rural/urban #disparities in Malawi. In the remote areas for instance of Misuku , Nthalire, Chitimba, Nchenanchena, Nkhamenya, Mthwalo, Poka, Chinthenche, Hewe, Chatoroma, Kafukule or the Island of Likoma some students might be born intelligent with high IQs but can actually have no access to better schools with better resources, better learning environment , better infrastructure, qualified teachers and Libraries. Such students might not perform as well as their counterparts in the cities but given better academic opportunity might as well reach their potential IQ. Perhaps the logistical implementation of the system is killing it's essence, is skewed and is #corrupted hence the need maybe to #abolish the system entirely or #modify to suit it's initial intended purposes. One way of modifying the system would be to apply district #proportions in selecting students with district quotas for the diverse national schools.
